I don’t think it’s because RED wants to sell more RED Rockets. Contrary to what many people think, the genius in RED paradigm is *not* the hardware (although it is high performance) but rather the REDCode codec. Letting others ‘debayer’ RED footage would mean that they would have to share their most precious trade secret: RED Code.
