Thanks for all the input. How accurate should I be in the pitch shift to get the absolute best results?
-
Jeremy, You’re right.. it is a lot. The reason I gave up the speedup process was I don’t have the right tools to edit the audio pitch. I know a friend that can get it done, maybe it’s a good idea to try it, send it to the band, and let them decide.

First of all, thanks for all your support. What I ended up doing was letting compressor do the conversion to 25fps, adding extra frames. Even though it looks jumpy from time to time..
I never had any luck with the speed-up process, I never understood how it could even be an option since I dont want to end up with a shorter video and a faster soundtrack. It feels like people who know’s the song would notice the difference.
Next time I’m shooting something that’s going to Europe I will make sure to convert BEFORE I edit.. this was a nightmare.

I’m just exploring all the options. And still up to this point I can’t see how the speedup process would help me since I’m working with a Music Video where the audio has to stay original.
So besides the speed up process, what’s the smartest solution. Buy Nattress and go crazy with the settings?

Hi Jerry, I tried Nattress, but I got pretty poor results with the 24p to PAL+1 setting. I put the HDV file in a Pal timeline, Nest, Load the sourceclip, 24p to PAL+1, and render out progressive 16:9. I read something about Nattress using fields instead of frames during the conversion, and it sounds good, but I’m just not getting any good results??

Thanks for all the support. I finally got a chance to mess with Cinema Tools. Well, after conforming the footage to 25fps, the duration of the file is now about 9 seconds shorter than before.
So what I have to do with the audio is to correct the pitch with approx three quarters of a semi tone? What’s happening with the duration of the track?
How do they, let’s say, send Britney Spears new video to play in the UK? (assuming they shot in 24p)

I’m sorry but I’m still very confused about the audio. In another forum I’m told that I can use the original audiofile (a music track) and that it’ll match up with the conformed 25fps footage. But I can’t see how that’s possible.
If I have a 1 minute song, with 24fps video to it, and then conform to 25fps, the video and the audio will speed up by appox 4%, correct? Which mean that the conformed video footage will have a shorted duration than earlier, and not match up with the original audio. Or am I wrong (again)?

Ok. But what about the duration of the conformed video Vs. original audio? Will it match up? I’ve read about people changing speed and pitch of the soundtrack to match it up. I only have a song that’s 3min44sec long so if the conformed footage will match up with my original audiofile I’m golden. Will it?

Thanks for the fast reply. So by speeding up the audio and dropping the pitch I can keep the same duration of the audiotrack? It feels like i’m missing something. Since the image is projected at 25fps instead of 24fps, the duration of the video will be shorter, right?

Hi. I have an edited music video project in 24fps I need to deliver on PAL DVD. I understand the speedup to PAL will change the pitch of the song and play it about 4% faster.. Is there a way for me to keep the original audiofile? Or is the Conform 24 to 25 in Cinematools the cleanest way to go?
