I’m working with two camera angles from a wedding ceremony. The second track is simply the cutaway shot. Got the main footage on track 1 and the secondary footage on track 2 and just cut out sections of the first one. I’m used to doing this with 4 or 5 video tracks of HDV and it never was this slow (running i7 processor). Tried preview AUTO (even Draft Auto) and it didn’t speed anything up. Any ideas?

I’m running Vegas Pro 9 on an i7 PC running Vista 64 with 8GB of RAM. Sony FileIOSurrogate.exe seems to be taking up a good amount of memory (over 1GB). I am able to drop files 12 at a time. But once I get to about 50 clips I run into problems with the program crashing. It says physical memory is at 70%. How can I resolve this? Never ran into this sort of problem when editing hours of HDV footage. Thanks.

Thanks for the input. My problem is that I am not very good at adjusting bitrates. A lot of times I end up with files that are “too big” for the DVD and DVDA winds up re-encoding them anyway. Is there a way to know exactly what file size you are going to end up with?
