Thanks Shane. Good to know. Is the workaround to run it through compressor?

ahhh, I like the shift + arrow solution. I have tried the “remove subclip parameters” option before and it ends up getting way too messy. Thanks for the help! Jason

Hey Shane, one more question for you. Is there an easy way to separate the tapeless footage from the file based in the final sequence?

    Thanks Steve. Anything wrong with:
Capturing from deck over FW at ProRes422
using Compressor to transcode to LT
    Deleting original ProRes422 file
    Reconnecting to new LT file?
    Thanks, Jason

Thanks for the help on the workflow! But are you saying to offline at Proxy, then conform to LT? Or are you saying start at LT and conform up to PR422? I know the cost of drives have come down, but if conforming from proxy is easy and sort of painless, then lowering the bit rate and drive space is a great option for my budget.

I am back. I have read a lot on the topic, tested things and am still wondering if there is a definite answer to the 24PF workflow. Here’s my question:

What is the proper procedure for importing 23.98 MTS files into Final Cut. What should the capture and sequence settings be?

Through my tests, I am thinking it is okay to import clips using AIC at 60i and cut in a Pro Res 23.98 sequence.

Am I missing something major here? Thanks for any help, Jason

This is going well! Every time I post, I figure out something else. Just found the reverse telecine in JES. Will shut up for a while.

I see there are a lot of post regarding this issue. From my research, it looks as if my best bet is to take the captured .mov files, and run them through JES deinterlacer. From a quick test, the file is deinterlaced, but still plays at 29.97. Soooo, since this project is in its early stages, and we are shooting action, I am thinking of changing the cameras to shoot 60i. That way, my friend can continue with FCE and the future footage will match the current AIC and 29.97 frame rate FCE forces. I don’t know if there is a question here, but if anyone sees any red flags, please let me know.
