I tried a test last night on your suggestion for a 15sec. clip..add v2 track with graphic, select drop shadow, bar goes red on top in timeline. From there I could not click on the next tab, the next open sequence? And batch export is greyed out?

For your Quad core you can get 4 cores all working in compressor. Here is how:

System Preferences – QMaster – Select Compressor under the Service tab and then click the Options for selected service tab. Number of Instances should show 1. Change this number to 4 Click the bottom right ‘start sharing’ tab.

NOTE: To use this setting you must select the new cluster when you hit submit in Compressor.

Example: Hit submit…setting importance is high as normal…where it says “use this computer”…click the drop down and pick the ‘cluster’

You are all set! Watch your compression work with ALL 4 Cores! And at Blazing Speeds. Hope this helps and if you know anyone on the render issue please pass my question on. Thanks.

Tried to use Export Batch but it is greyed out when the sequence has a red bar on top. It would have been awesome to render 5 open sequences and export them all at once. Even if it still took 5 hours, I would not have to go back to the computer each hour. Alas, this didn not happen.

Note: in compressor I load up 10 files and compress in my sleep. Videos that took 10 hours on my macbook pro take 1 hour on the octo-core as I’ve set up all 8 cores to work…using 90% of the system. Compressor setup is Great!

Just need help with Rendering and speeding that up.
