August 19, 2020 at 9:05 pm in reply to: Vector Layer Goes Blurry After Making It 3DRichard, thanks for the response. As I got working with it I noticed that when I would move the layer in z-space it would go sharp (and sometimes blurry). In all, it wasn’t as noticeable when I moved the layer in z-space. Not sure why. But if I left it in the original position, or even in some position on the z-axis, it goes blurry. It just wasn’t enough to worry about in the final animation so I left it alone.
For reference I attached the exported comp. The left side is vector w/o 3d and the right with 3d.
Thanks again for the response.

Ok, I figured it out. I also had the plane as a child of a Polygon Reduction Instance that was causing the problems with the smooth animation. So, just made the whole thing editable and now it’s working perfect. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Had been working on this for a while.

Thanks for the quick reply. I’ve tried that, but I get a really ‘jagged’ animation. It is not very smooth like it is with the random effector. The polygon points seem to jump all over instead of a smooth motion I get with the random. Is there a way to smooth out the displacer deformer noise?

Thanks for the reply Johnny. I went to Nvidia’s site and it said there were no new updates to the drivers for my card. I may have reinstall 2014 and see if that works any better.

Thanks for the quick reply Walter – sorry it took so long to get back. I tried checking the “Hardware accelerate Composition, Layer and Footage Panels” and it still does the same thing. I may have to download the 2014 version and work with that.

April 30, 2015 at 2:14 am in reply to: White Noise Issue with Sennheiser ew 100 G3 WirelessThanks Bruce and Richard for the replies. I’ve taken your suggestions and ran a test that you can view/listen to here:
I turned the camera gain all the way down and then just manipulated the sensitivity and AF Out on the transmitter and receiver and I think it sounds a lot better. But let me know what areas I’m missing (if any).
Thanks,

Ok, so I did turn the levels down on the camera and that did help it a little. I had to increase the sensitivity to again bring it back up, but it does sound a little cleaner. I hooked up the shotgun mic that comes with the camera (to rule out the XLR cable) and I turn the camera levels down and there is less noise than with the sennheiser – but I don’t think it’s the cable
Maybe I’m just expecting too much. I got some footage out that we shot with the Sony mic and, even though I remember it being considerably less “noisy” it still has noise. I guess my question is how much white noise should I expect from a $500 system? Should there be zero? Should there be a small amount that can be fixed in post?
Thanks

On another note – not sure why, but after making the comp 3D I actually had to switch off continuous rasterize to get the material options.
-
That was it. Before I couldn’t find a material options (not sure if I had missed the 3D box and left it unchecked. Anyways, turned on cast shadows and it’s working. Thanks.

Thanks for the reply. I did try the continuous rasterize but it still doesn’t display the shadow. The masking the text inside the comp does work, but I’ll be adding to it and I need to make it so that I can mask the entire comp. Thanks again for the help.
