  • Figured it out for those interested. Here is what I did. I actually improved my Candle test results by 4FPS by making these adjustments. I now get realtime 5K 2:1 with a few nodes (haven’t managed to slow it down yet with enough nodes). This is now with GTX570 (1.2GB), Rocket, Intensity and a 250MB/s SW RAID.

  • What specs on that iMac?

The candle test should have a clip of a parrot (SD resolution) and you simply jump through the different versions to do anywhere from 04 to 64 blur nodes. Check it out and see what you get.

    Eric,

Are you running SSD’s in that SW raid? I can’t run an internal due to most films spanning more than 16TB (4 drives worth) so I’m stuck with HBA’s/Fiber on any RED, ArriRaw, or DPX job. That’s just field work though, I can get away with smaller commercial stuff with the internal RAID I have on some machines. Even though its only 250-300MB/s it hasn’t choked with RED 5K (7:1) at all as long as I’m working in Reels (10-15mins each).

I posted my feelings on the GTX660ti in the Macrumors board was curious if anyone on here is running one with both Adobe and DaVinci? I think the 3GB model may be the best value for the money if the additional memory plays nice with PS and AE as well as DaVinci.
