Thank you Michael. Metacheater is a cool tool, and I see what you mean, lots of duplicated media and time to import! Bummer. It would be nice to be able to promote an AMA linked asset to a traditional tape based asset.

If anyone else knows of a way to have AVID use existing footage (as you do with AMA) AND be able to assign a tape name to it so that it is able to edit with and then properly consolidate for recapture from tape via traditional Batch digitize, please let me know.

    THANKS!

[John Pale] “Also, if you are going to finish your audio in ProTools or some other DAW, you cannot export audio to AAF or OMF from an AMA sequence.”

Is it possible to consolidate the sequence thus copying the regions needed with handles?

Just curious why you want to spend the time importing? I thought AMA allows you to link to the DSLR’s native format files an edit without having to use an AVID codec. Is AMA just not quite there yet?

Thanks for all the input. More specifically Im curious if anyone out there is using Premiere or Vegas to capture Analog SD (such as Beta SP) sources on the Windows side? If so what is the go to codec for SD analog digitization in Windows land? My options on the Mac side using an AJA I/O are DV, DVCPRO50, 8-bit UC, 10-bit UC, IMX-50, and of course several flavors of Prores, which I am aware that there is support for Prores on the Win side but haven’t heard much good news from users, at least early on with v1.

[Michael Sacci] “I would go to ProRes (not HQ). THis is set in the prefs of Log and Transfer.”

Hi Michael. Just curious about why not Prores HQ? I also noticed that Magic Bullet Grinder doesn’t support HQ. I was under the impression that HQ is the way you want to go as it (besides 4444) would be best bet in preserving quality while transcoding. Am I missing something?
    thanks

  • Just to chime in- Today out of nowhere I started experiencing this same error while trying to save all. The make new project and copy and paste all contents did the trick.

    FCP 7.0.1

    Repairing permissions did not help.

Are you sure that its a mono track being imported into Sonic and not just a Stereo file represented as one icon or track in Sonic? In the FCP/DVD Studio Pro world when you import a Quicktime file with video and stereo audio into DVD Studio Pro it is represented by one audio icon and occupies one Audio track, but is indeed a stereo file…

  • So, I was fortunate enough that a friend allowed me to use his EX-1 to test these transfers. I was able to get around 1 min/GB transfer rate while connected to the camera via USB cable. Once copied to a hard drive I then tested copying to the PDW-U1- that resulted in a 2 min/GB transfer time. For ease and redundancy I will be taking the Lacie 2Big Quadra 500 GB RAID1 drive.

  • Thanks, very helpful info. Just updated the firmware on the PDW-U1 and tomorrow Im going to try copying to a ProDisc…
