[Aaron Star] “There is the new BM Video Assist that looks like a good deal as well. “
An important distinction is that the Ninja Assassin will do 4K, whereas the Video Assist will not.
[Aaron Star] “However, whenever I see these things, I always think the person should have bought a better camera that operates at a higher level. Like a C300, Blackmagic, Arri, or Sony F-5 series. The higher level cameras will have better electronics, image sensors, and in some cases higher end codecs than some low cost DSLR body.”
I see your point, but for some a dslr or mirrorless camera can be a valuable multifunctional tool because you can take great photos with them too.

September 18, 2015 at 11:45 pm in reply to: Sony a7s + Ninja Assassin = Recommedations for Post?[Jason Roberts] “Can anyone speak to the Ninja Assassin’s metadata tagging capabilities? It would be nice if they were nice and robust since that would cut down on time spent in Bridge or Prelude for metadata. Jus a thought, as always – I think too much :)”
Jason; the Ninja Assassin’s metadata tagging consists of the following presets:
Favorite
Reject
Talent1
Talent2
Over Exp
Color
Bad Audio
Cut Away
Close Up
Wide ShotYou can set in & out points as you review, so the tags don’t have to apply to an entire take.

September 4, 2015 at 9:01 pm in reply to: Can I match color correction filters already laid out?You could save an effects preset and apply that preset to whatever clip you like. You would still need to get rid of any other color correction on the clip, though.
Another method is to use a blank title track as an adjustment layer and have the color correction applied to that. Any clips underneath it will take on the effect.

September 4, 2015 at 8:48 pm in reply to: what should I charge for a 3-5 minute After Effects animation? Am I under-selling, or overselling myself?[Bre Snitchler] “Research/development: $15/hr
Ideas/sketches: $20/hr
Photoshop/illustrator/InDesign: $25/hr
After effects: $30/hr”Forget about the different rates. Your time is your time. Make it $40 per hour for everything and call it good.

September 4, 2015 at 11:41 am in reply to: Pocket Cinema Camera footage: frame drops, stutters, stallsThanks, Roger:
It ended up being an incompatibility with my SD cards. Basically, they were too fast! Apparently there are specific cards on the compatibility list. I was trying to use my U3 cards, but the BMPCC only works with U1 cards.

Hi, Simon:
I have access to a large greenscreen studio. What clips do you need?

August 30, 2015 at 3:36 am in reply to: Pocket Cinema Camera footage: frame drops, stutters, stallsI got the following back from BlackMagic tech support. I haven’t had a chance to test.
The issue you are having is due to a SD card incompatibility and a firmware update is not going to fix that. The Panasonic card is not on out list of recommended SD cards but he Sandisk is, only is it’s the Sandisk Extreme Pro 95 MB/sec SDXC UHS-I model. I see that you list the SDXC II U3 model which has the 2 rows of pins in the back, that is not compatible. Incompatible cards will cause dropped frames in the recording.

I’m using Safari. I don’t have another browser on the machine at the moment, but if this keeps up, I may have to load Chrome.
