Are you seeing the corrupt frames when playing back in-camera, or just after transferring to your computer?
Are you using the stock battery (Panasonic brand)?
Are you running hacked firmware or stock firmware?
Can you get your hands on a Sandisk Class 10 card to test with?

That is strange. I do this with almost every project I edit. If you scale it to 133.3% does it still look sharp?

Spatial conform only works if you set it before you put the footage in the timeline. Even if you don’t set it to “none”, you can scale the footage anyway. But as you noted it will read 100% when you start. Going up to 133.3% with the spatial conform set to “fit”, is the same as 100% when the spatial conform is set to “none”.

I agree.

I’ve never worked in news, but I have spent 10+ years trying to get better at what I do.

We can choose to cling to the past and fade away, or embrace the change and adapt to survive. Part of that adaption may be finding new clients who appreciate quality.

I disagree. 99% of the time, I’m hired for the end-result I can produce (and my no-drama attitude), not for the the equipment I have. I shoot with a DSLR (most of the time) because I can get great looking, high resolution video from a camera body I can pay for in one shoot. That’s just smart business.

[David Speace] “I noticed that one of the interviews with Diane Sawyer and the guest was shot either with the Canon 5D or the Sony F3… might have been the F3; anyway, what I noticed was how out of focus the background was… like completely out of focus… huge circles of confusion!”
I doubt they were shooting wide open and I doubt they were using a DSLR. It’s more likely they had some kind of diffusion material stretched across the background. That would allow them the ease of shooting with a deeper focus while giving them the out-of-focus-background look they were going for.
