Makes perfect sense, Todd, and great story too! While I wouldn’t consider it my perfect target market, those crowds are composed of people from all walks of life, working at all kinds of different companies… I do mostly tv ads, promos and corporate stuff. But, maybe people don’t even think about work at all when they are out having fun.

  • If the client wants it shot in HD, then he may want it broadcast in letterbox format, so the entire image is retained. That’s what I like to do.

Part of the drag for me, really. I’d much rather just send in a master after an email.”

LOL –The editing hermit! That’s my personality too, but I try not to let it take over…

Thanks Matt! That did the trick. It was the whole drag and drop thing that I was missing.

After spending 2 plus days on this “problem” the only conclusion I can come to is that DVCPRO50 30p is, by it’s very nature, going to have UGLY aliasing in some scenes. On with the edit! Thanks much to Jeremy and Wayne who took time to help out. You guys put the “MOO” in the cow!

  • Well, that settles it… I’m going to stop trying to fix the “problem” with my DVCPRO50 30p footage. I certainly won’t be shooting that format again. Thanks much for the feedback!

  • [Adam Smith] “Are you shooting 30p for a certain look, or thinking it’s more compatible with NTSC? If it’s the look you want, you might try 720p24 instead – more filmy and less noticeable combing on horizontal motion.”

Don’t want to hijack this thread, but are you saying that it’s normal for 30p to have combing or aliasing on horizontal edges? I’ve been struggling for days to make my aliasing DVCPRO50 30p footage look acceptable.

Yes, I see the same aliasing.
