Hi Neil,
Duplicate your animation layer and put it above the red layer. Then on the red layer, set the track matte to alpha matte. AE will use the alpha channel to cut out all the red in the alpha area. Also, I couldn’t help but notice that in your background “scanning” is spelled “scaning”.

The bottom line is; you’re worth whatever you can get them to pay you. So, you might as well aim high. Negotiate downwards if you have to but have a minimum in mind. If they won’t pay what you want, try to get more benefits to sweeten the deal. I wouldn’t sell myself to anybody full time for less than $80k w/benefits. But that’s me.

Great advice in this thread! The only thing I can add is; don’t try to make them speak using their hands if they don’t naturally do that. There seems to be thousands of directors across the globe telling their talent to “Use your hands and when you bring them together, match up your fingertips”. Yeah… that looks soooo natural. One of my pet peeves!

Every time I see somebody drive by, pulling a big boat, I think, “Man, I’m glad I don’t have a boat!” My parents live on a lake and own a rowboat, canoe and a couple of kayaks. That’s more my style.

I have noticed this trend and not just on Youtube. Many people are using whatever popular music they want and they seem to think it is justified because they slap on a credit with the name of the artist/band. Sometimes they even say “thanks to _______” as if the artist had given them permission. IMO, it is just as illegal as it was before no matter how blatant you are about it.

That kit looks like everything you need. I don’t know about chromatic aberrations; I’ve always been happy with what I get with my Letus Extreme. If you can afford it, I recommend getting the Letus Ultimate instead of the Elite. The Elite uses vibrating ground glass and you can only stop down to f4. Once you hit f5.6 or below, the ground glass is visible. Also, if you plan on doing any overcranking for slow motion, the ground glass can show up there as well. The Ultimate uses spinning ground glass which gives you much more flexibility in Fstops, frame rates and shutter speeds.

I have a similar issue in AE CS3, except the “bright” frames always happen in the first few frames of the comp. It only happens with P2 footage from my HVX, though. What kind of footage are you using?
