So I found out something. The files that would crash Vegas whenever I dragged them to the timeline were recorded at a lower bit rate. The files that work are in 13.5Mbps and the ones that don’t are around 9.4Mbps. I don’t know why that would give this kind of an error but it does.

Wow, so for some reason really weird things are happening.
1st: All of the files that I have recorded previously are apparently AVCHD (even though I recorded them on the setting of Playstation 3 in Hauppauge which is supposed to be .M2TS).
2nd: As a test, I tried recording footage in AVCHD format and it imported perfectly with no errors or anything.
So, I still have a few hours of footage that I would like to use but as stated before Vegas will crash whenever I try to bring it into the timeline. The only option I see is converting the file type. Does anyone know of a file converter that does not lower the quality of the original file?
P.S. I am going to try using the conversion tool included in TotalMedia Extreme (software included with the Hauppauge)

I was not able to successfully install 10.00c. It went through with the installation, told me to restart my computer and I did this. Then once it was restarted I tried to open Vegas but it would simply show the “loading”… circle thing next to my mouse for a second or so and then nothing would happen. I looked in the processes tray and it was not running. So, I uninstalled it and reinstalled the set-up I had which was for 10.00a. So yes, I have Vegas Pro 10.00a.
I just tried installing MC VC 2010 redistributable and it did not work. Should I uninstall MC VC 9 first?

Just to be clear, you are referring to Microsoft Visual C 9 right? Sorry, I’m still quite new with some of the more technical parts of editing.

But see I’ve been using the .M2TS file type for every single video so it’s not like I suddenly changed anything. And as I stated previously, I tried to upgrade to 10.00c but it didn’t work so I had to reinstall 10.00a. One of my friends suggested it might be a codec problem. Is that a possibility?
