Hi Shane,
<font face=”inherit”>Michael Hancock is right, you can’t just do what you want </font>unfortunately<font face=”inherit”>.</font>

You have to remember what the playhead does. It shows you the current frame on the timeline in your program monitor.
You also have to remember what spacebar is. It’s play/pause.
If it were to jump back to where you started playing, you would be changing the function. Imagine you were trying to find a specific cut point by playing through and hitting pause, only for it to jump back to where you you started playing. You’d soon be posting on this forum asking for ways to make the playhead stop where you hit spacebar.
In your case, you want it to return to the place where you had zoomed in to view.
Thankfully you can do this but it’s a different function to play/pause (spacebar) in most NLE’s.
What you need to do is add the ‘Play Around’ button to your program monitor (or you could assign it a keyboard shortcut). You’ll find the playhead will jump back to the start point even when zoomed in. However you can’t hit spacebar to pause as the playhead will pause exactly at that point. You have to let it finish the post-roll for it to return to the start.
Because the ‘Play Around’ function is related to pre-roll and post-roll so you can tailor that to suite your liking in preferences.
Hope that makes sense and helps.
