Awesome…I think I’m just going to do PPW and hope to garner the info I’m looking for in the Cert classes in those sessions.

I’ve been on FCP for about 8 months and I think I’m missing a few basics and I’d like to cover some of those, I’m routinely frustrated by what I’m unable to do in FCP vs what AVID did…and I think it’s because I’m not doing it the right way…

    P.S. Thanks again! I appreciate the insight…

    thanks for the feedback…

[Jeff Walsh] “So you can sit in certification class, or sit in on the courses designed and taught by some of the best in the industry”

You have to PAY to get in the cert classes, right? I couldn’t bounce into those classes between other sessions, could I?

I’m so excited! This is going to be a ton of fun to get to meet people I’ve conversed with here on the cow for years!

    1) I’m not sure what “pratt” means 🙂

    2) If his picture is truly what he looks like, I’ve got to meet him! He reminds me of the chief engineer of the control room from UHF with Wierd Al Yankovic…

    3) I love meeting people with opinions…I have to meet the guy who wold publicly write:
“I am no longer interested in your opinion. The “good old days” are over, and welcome to 2010.”

    lol..Bob makes me laugh 🙂

    I’m using a FSI – 1760…it’s a great monitor.

One small issue I have is that I have dual 24″ LED apple displays as my editing workspace. The LED’s are SO vibrant and bright, that the FSI always looks dark.

I experienced grey bars over the video as a watermark of an unregistered plug in.

Are you using any plug-in’s on the video?

it may be obvious, but have you confirmed the 29.97 vs 30fps?

That may cause that kind of drift…

    Just throwing out options.

    Great information…thanks Chuck.

The thing that drew me initially to the Marshall was the HDMI option (we shoot some 5D and I like to preview through the HDMI out…although I could adapt the DVI on the FSI, and with the marshall, it’s HD-SDI -OR- HDMI…the FSI will give me both with the adaptor from HDMI to DVI.

Is the FSI 7″ a good option? Any other monitors I should take a look at?

not a trick question….just an naive questioner 🙂

Is there another monitor you’d suggest over the FSI for a field monitor?

as a side note, I hope to meet you at NAB, I’ve been involved in several topics with you here at the cow and I’d love to meet you in person!

    Thanks for all your help!

March 25, 2010 at 7:31 pm in reply to: Clip Browser or XDCAM Transfer?

I apologize, because I don’t have any experience with the discs yet. We’re still waiting for all the components of the 700 (LENS!) …

We do have a U1 drive. Could you explain the process a little more in detail of how that transfer would work? Clip Browser direct to the disc? Then import from disc via XDCAM transfer, and then it’s backed up on disc?

    Thanks for the help!

I have read that from a lot of the reading I’ve done on the EX workflow. I’m still struggling with how to integrate an XDCAM HD disc and EX – SxS card workflow. The disc is simple…shoot, edit…delete, reference the disc to bring it back onine. But the EX has to come off the card, and where does it go to keep it separate from footage that you can delete.

I’m struggling with the change from AVID to FCP…the AVID was great at organizing my media…but FCP let’s me put it anywhere!
