Some places have audio depts and some don’t. I came from Avid where there was a normalize effect to drop onto your clip. Worked well. I thought I heard something about the new FC2 having it, but I can’t confirm. Could be an upgrade in STP.
I’m looking for a better solution too, as most clients don’t account for audio sweetening, but expect it anyway…. the normalize effect was a down and dirty fix that I miss in FC.
Good luck and let us all know if you find a solution.

Well if you’re gonna do that, why not just shoot on green screen…. Then you have total control. If not, I’d do the lock down thing and shoot it twice, crop the actor layer as tight as you can with out having to rotoscope too much. Then use a transfer mode like screen and lower opacity, maybe a blur or glow effect… depends on background and how cleanly the layer is composited.
Good luck and let s know how you fared!

I think I had a freak out moment, so I apologize for the rather obvious post. I guess it’s time to spend some cash….
Thanks for the response, and again, sorry for being a temporary dolt!

May 14, 2007 at 3:54 am in reply to: my semi-transparent banner looks ugly on TV, why?I’m not sure, but could it be that DV output? I’ve noticed a similar issue with just about every animation I have put to DV. Just a little soft, no clean edges. Similar problem keying DV.
No solution, just a thought.

Well right out of the gate, I don’t see anything similar, as the videoluster site doesn’t seem to work. Seems like the menu bar is similar, but the biggest difference is that VideoCopilot offers fantastic products and informative, current and USEFUL tutorials.

That’s really spot on advice. I run that very same way here in ATL. To potential freelance clients, who will hire me for a gig in their shop I’m just me. For clients, ad agencies and the like, you’re a HUGE company, with TONS of gear, stockholders, an IMAX and lawyers on retainer!! Be what you hope to become… Just like grinner said.

Wow… The most concise and nearly understandable (my ignorance, not a slam) post yet! I do appreciate that knowledge. I actually did update my tax advisor, but it was September and she recommended buying tons of equipment. I didn’t really need any and thought better about buying stuff I wouldn’t necessarily use or need. I max out my SEP and I can knock it down a bit, but not much.
I will be discussing this with a CPA, but I appreciate the input. I just have this feeling that there’s not right or wrong answer…. and that, along with my ignorant understanding of tax laws and bureaucratic jargon, makes me very uneasy.
But the Cows always offer insight… and I totally appreciate it!

Well I’m glad I asked the question, because no matter where I look or who I ask, I get differnt opinions. Even tax pros don’t agree. It’s obvious that I must do one of the two. Being that I am a sole proprietor, with no current employees, paying quarterly taxes and collecting 1099’s along the way, is there any specific tax advantage to one over the other?
