thank you very much for that, however now my FCP refuses to launch… i have trashed all preferences but still refuses… shall i get rid of ALL the preferences? even the ones in DirectoryServide, Sountrck and SystemConf?

I have tried, this time with another file and it works, however it recommends me to copy the file? For quality purpouses? because apparently it is not set for FCP. In any case it works and they are QT

and it is hppked on a vhs/dvd machine so sole scart and HDMI in are in use. Leaving us with the serial, a 15pin PC in, an S-vid and component in blue red and green.
