Hi,

If you use Raylight to edit from the AVC-Intra files, you would have to have something in the computer to support the AVC-Intra codec. Since there is not, I don’t think this is going to work.

If for some reason it did, the differences would be that the metadata would still be there and the size of the file would be smaller.

I am glad you finally got your P2 card. While I do know there are times that we can be difficult to deal with, we are a large company with our own bureaucratic quirks, there is nothing that we did or didn’t do that ket the dealer from delivering the card to you.

I find it very telling that they would try to shift the blame for their lack of proper customer service to Panasonic. I have forwarded this thread to the sales folks in charge, maybe they will take you up on your idea.

I receieved a copy of this very same post in today’s email. It is the first I have heard of your problem. Since I was only available by my Blackberry, I couldn’t seem to figure out how to answer your complaint directly.

I did forward your email to the folks at the Rebate Center and I expect that I will hear back from them tomorrow. I am assuming that you have prequalified and have sent in a copy of your invoice and all of that. I base that on some of the words in your post.

We were unexpectedly out of inventory as Anton Bauer took all of our inventory and updated it. This did take longer than we expected. It is and always has been our intention to honor every rebate. Sorry yours seems to have fallen through the cracks somewhere, it would help if I had your name, didn’t have that in the email I got earlier and the address than the product needed to ship to. Sometimes there is a transposed number that is the problem. But I could enumberate a whole is of hwo things go wrong, but that really isn’t necessary.

So if you would contact me directly at crittendenj at us.panasonic.com and send along the rest of your details, it will just give me a few more handles to grab on to.

Sorry for your problem and we will work to clear it up as quickly as possible.

Hi,

The HPX as well as the HVX indeed are HD cameras. The folks that claim that they are SD chips and thus are only capable of SD are totally ignoring the effect of the spatial offset technology whic brings both cameras CCDs to above a million pixels each.

The EX camera works using a CMOS imager, not the same as a CCD. Do a google search on the EX1 and Rolling Shutter. The CMOS imager with all of its pixel count does not come without a price. And then there is the wierd issue that it won’t allow you to go into record from the playback mode. You have to switch the camera off and have it reboot to get to the recording side. This will take over 10 seconds.

Hi,

My suggestion is that you go back to the dealer and ask for your money back. Then call another dealer and have them sell you the card. This is just simply ridiculous that you can’t get a card that is virtually in stock everywhere else.

Sounds like your dealer needs a lesson or two in customer service and what happens when you show a lack of it.

P2 Cards are instock at many of the dealers. Panasonic has them in stock.

You can also “print to Video” over 1394 to the P2 card and play the timeline back to the P2 card and have the camera record it. And this you can do on a Mac.

Hi,

Yoou are allowed one battery in cargo, aka luggage and cases with gear in them, a singular battery, it must be attached to the camera, or recorder. All else has to be in the carry on. In your carry on you can have up to 25 grams of Lithium Ion. In each of the HVX batteries you have about 2 1/2 grams. We are working on having a certificate on the website sometime in the near future but bureacracy takes time. Sorry.

Anyhow,I just traveled with a set of the above and no one seemed to care about the number of batteries. They had a lot more interest in the 14 P2 cards I had in a small case. They had not seen PCMCIA cards in that quantity. I felt I was in a visual training session. 😉

That camera would be the AJ-HPX2000.

And frankly films and longer productions also benefit greatly from the file based workflow.
