You are a dream for the “close all gaps” technique! I used to have a single key cammand for it years ago, an early FCP, and have really missed it. Your trick is clever and almost as easy as the old way that they abandoned. Thanks!

I have finally managed to find my proapps folder–thanks for the careful instructions about Terminal. My problem was that Final Cut Pro 7 was asking me for my serial number(s) every time I launch it–a new wrinkle, as I’ve had it on this same machine, running Lion, for a year or so, with no problem. So I was going to “delete any FCP system id’s ” in ProApps, as another thread advised, then reopen FCP and enter the sn’s…this, I read, would solve it. BUT there are no FCP system id’s in my ProApps folder (that must be why it keeps asking for sn). But I mean, I have repeatedly opened FCP, put in the sn’s, already–and they haven’t made a folder. So something else must be wrong or needed. Anyone have any ideas? I hate to have to reinstall the whole FCS, though I have the disks etc.–but isn’t there a simpler solution??

You know, it was pretty maddening to see one button only to click when I got those death-knell messages “Not Found” and “General Error”–we’re expected to say a docile “OK”. Would be nice if Apple would tell us what to do–so simple: “Delete associated render files and re-render.” Wonder why they don’t…..maybe a word from someone like you?

I’d tried re-connecting media, creating a new sequence, reimporting the media, exporting as a quicktime movie, and…almost resorted to prayer, but not quite. Then I read this discussion, deleted my render files, re-rendered–voilà ! Thanks for the solution!
