    Jan,

I have set my monitor to the 16X9 setting. My viewing is not my problem. When i output it to tape, the images are not letterboxed, they are squeezed. How do i get the images going to tape to be letterboxed?

    thanks,

    j

there are some digital high speed cameras out there as well. I looked into shooting an explosion with one of these a while back. they shoot very high speeds.

here are two links for digital imagers.

  • dont overlook 24P ! I have had people ask if the footage was shot on 35mm film. It gives you a look that is very similar to how a film camera behaves. In my opinion, that is an invaluable setting and look.

    keep researching.

had thought about that as well… its nerve wracking to have the masters sent out though… lots of work to have something happen to the masters… wanna try and get as much in the field as possible.

Leo Ticheli: We output to 601 from a DVCPRO HD VTR (we us both AJ-HD150 studio editing and AJ-HD130DC portable, half-rack size VTRs) and master to Digital Betacam

    yes thank you,

we are going to do some downconverts in the field as well. we are going to record on HD masters, and downconvert through a AJA 10MD3 and record that to a dvc pro 50 deck as well.

i would like to shoot in a way that accomodates a 4X3 edit but still looks acceptable in 16X9.

    thanks,

    mainly…. client asked for HD.
secondly….we will use the HD masters as well. we are downconverting as secondary sources.
third… to be quite honest, its good to get experience in the higher end of production. as we are going to buy a varicam in the near future. so good experience there as well.

    thanks,
