oh thanks! I feel like such a girl with this stuff. I do keep my projects files and all my media on an external drive, not on C drive. so who knows what’s going on… well thanks again.

Thanks, ya I was going to do that but

1 – my auto save is a much older version 🙁 (but a good last resort)

2 – I want this to stop happening, it’s done this in another project too. It would be nice to fix the root of the problem. I guess there is some corruption with a certain file, but I dont’ know why that happens or how to find it.

What’s the system drive? I have defragged it but to no avail.

    Thanks for your help

yes I am using AVI files. What do you mean when you say I need file particulars and not what’s missing?

    Who knows! 🙂

The only thing I installed recently (before I started this project) was Skype. However I was able to edit just fine for a few days before the problems started happening and a project I did long before Skype ended up doing the same thing, so not sure if that’s part of it.

Thanks for the Windows Media tip, I’ll look into that.

Thanks, I tried that and it played once, then as soon as I hit the space bar to pause and start again, it froze again. Someone else suggested changing the video playback settings, I did that and the same thing happened. It’s almost as if the space bar has more to do with it than anything else. It’s odd because this only happens after I’ve edited for a while. I was able to work on this project for a couple of days just fine and then all of a sudden it just stops wanting to play back. Could that be an issue with the clips I have? I’m using only .avi and I have a lot of room on the hard drive that has all the video clips on it, so not sure if space is a problem.. but who knows.
