Hmm..
I’ll say it sucks if I move my browser and every other window starts following it…
I’ll say it sucks if I can only have one browser window open at a time…
I’ll say it sucks if I can’t access my email or send one anymore or can’t communicate with the outside world…
I’ll say it sucks if I can’t change the size of my application windows….
I’ll say it sucks if once I download something I can’t move it…
you know, basic stuff we obviously all took for granted in something else…

[David Roth Weiss] “it might even have a source viewer.”
When are we starting the bets?
I bet never…stakes?

July 20, 2011 at 7:41 pm in reply to: Why the urgency to jump to Avid/Adobe RIGHT NOW?[Gareth Randall] “That might be a dumb question, but it’s a genuine one – why?”
Usually people have been quite vocal as to “why”…
I’ve been waiting for years to get something “like” Adobe CS5’s Premiere Pro out of Apple. So why wait when they are no longer offering something as flexible and fast? Why wait for something that should have been everything Abode is offering but better…?
Just imagine if they *added* the organizational aspects of X and 64bit into Final Cut Studio, kept Color and worked on the kinks…
There wouldn’t be a backlash as loud, there wouldn’t be people jumping ship, the praise would out-shout any real criticisms. Instead of this WTF
Personally, it was a matter of two things. 1) FCx wasn’t flexible, I can’t even save-as or import custom aspect ratios. /eyeroll 2) There are much better products on the market and while they may change course, right now, they are offering products everything FCx should have been and more…so the question is, why wait? Especially for those of us that have tried it out and gave it an F-
And seriously, even if it had everything else I need moving forward, that timeline doesn’t lend itself to being more creative, it’s assembly line junk. I spelled out pretty much everything that drove me to FC7 in a post once, detailing how the flexibility allowed me to work as I choose to work, a process that gave me the ability to mine material as I saw fit and has been instrumental in my creative workflow…that was the revolution…flexibility
The response…“now you can do it faster and go out for a few beers with your friends”…completely missing the point of *the process* not just the result…
In the end, the redeeming qualities of X are a microcosm to the relationship between an editor and his timeline. A timeline should be a “canvas” not a constrained super-locomotive on magnetic rails. THAT is what Apple just doesn’t get…the sad part is, they once did….

My biggest issue, and more personal than anything, was the EOL on Color. I have CS5 and adore it. After Effects is my second home next to FCP7. But Color is where I invested a lot of time and expense and it’s quite a bother to me switching over to DaVinci and going through yet another round of training…Had Apple even HINTED at pulling it, I would have invested where I was limited. So for now I’m stuck on a powerful dinosaur that has a host of issues that will never be resolved now…
X is a disaster, the timeline is heartless. But, making an NLE switch wasn’t the biggest issue for me personally only because I have somewhere to go to without incurring additional expense unlike some others……

See to them, being able to get a copy of FCP3 in the back alley of the net is apparently a sign of your delusional rage and speaks to your inability to adapt to this new paradigm…. /eyeroll

[John Godwin] ” ago praising FCPX”
Oh, is that all he did? Pfft

[Marcus Samuel-Gaskin] ” Wow. Grumpy and personal much? It just seems that as soon as anyone posts positive experiences , somebody in the this ‘forum’ (really, a forum for griping about an app, is allowed to continue?) makes it their personal duty to sh*t on someone’s parade. You’re like positivity seeking missile. You really didn’t have to open this thread you know..”
Please. Sean and Kim have been posting the nastiest stuff ever written on the Cow. Take your self righteous bs to their threads

[Reed Black] ” It seems that people are upset because your NOT upset at the way this product was released”
I don’t give a useless teat what chris thinks about the release. Chris is the one marginalizing the EOL here because we can get it on ebay..which he won’t stop reminding people of, as if, a) gee we never thought of that, or b) because of this back alley ability to buy it, he can argue this over and over and over and over and over and over….which of course, has been addressed over and over and over…and he puts his blinders on
See the difference? No, because you have already suggested comprehending how others feel about this issue isn’t what you guys want to argue about, you want to argue banality and loopholes always in favour of your dogmatic views on this mess…
-
You just have it all figured out don’t you…
But doubtful. You have displayed a gross lack of comprehension and stepped into this forum acting like a child condemning those for actions and DRAMA you yourself have only brought.
Those willing to engage with your trite nonsense will wane. You won’t find success here, or outside of this forum with your pitiful loathsome attitude…despite your “diversity”…
Being a jerk isn’t diverse. Like X, you will be alone in your sandbox

[Dave LaRonde] “You’ve got to admit, the guy is tenacious”
Dogmatic not tenacious…to me anyways.
But even I have a limit. I’d offer him 30 pieces of silver to come over to reason but I’d hate to dash his chances at getting first dibs on iFCPX for the ipad and reviewing it for his iGod Lion
Walking away…I’ve swung my hockey stick
