I’m not sure how that answers the question…nor is indicative to his whole summation. Maybe parts. He remains optimistic, but he can’t use it…that’s a pretty solid condemnation on it’s current state and many here have vocalized that as well. Because he is well respected may give his “optimism” more weight to you, but then, his objections and refusal to use it by that reasoning must also carry more weight

Like when he said as a professional the future is irrelevant, despite his optimism, it has to work now…

Plug and play. Cost. And support.
Every mbox I have owned has been a disaster of epic frustration.
I understand it’s a monumental task to bridge everything. But at least get the effin basics down. Port some connection options from even last years model away from firewire. Have a more robust set/up feature set. Get into the Jobs mentality where my grandmother can not only connect the bloody things properly, but have a complete troubleshooting and dummy proof blahdy blah…
Bring the cost down to 300$ for a box, give a more robust version of protools…16 tracks? No 5.1? Wth…
Just some thoughts on getting these bigger ticket items out the door and keep or improve on their user base.
If dropping the price doesn’t cut the mustard, at least make it much more user friendly and stable. My box seems to have a life of it’s own and it’s not even 8 months old…

The one thing this luddite doesn’t get is, even if it had a friendlier bridge, a contrived multicam effort, an advanced grader, better audio capabilities…do legacy NLE editors actually enjoy using this turkey?
FC7 wasn’t perfect by any stretch, but the canvas was so flexible, so user friendly, so easy to manipulate on so many levels, to my mind, being boxed into an environment with so many limitations, even if you get out the door in 3mins instead of 7, how can anyone enjoy working from a transient process to a padded cell.
After a week forcing a project into it, I needed to be put in a straight jacket and medicated…
Adobe bugs me, but it at least has 90% customization of what FC7 had. X isn’t even in the ballpark…it’s so myopic.

I don’t know if it’s worth all the drama, but my one reflection on this might answer that.
I have never been so thoroughly baffled by a product before (and I bought WME). Since NAB my expectations lowered, but I thought there would be no way in brimstone that I wouldn’t be going full steam in X at this point. From the amount of rendering I’ve done in the last few years, this couldn’t come soon enough. Especially when you get strong-armed into using FC7 on certain projects. I never imagined it would be this drastically unusable.
I would give it so much latitude if Color saw an upgrade and it kept the fundamentals we all took for granted in 7. From the glorious sequence matrix to it’s canvas.
I am still shock and awed by what a bungle this was, and NAB, try as I might to erase it, still lingers as a complete con job.
I don’t think it’s because of Apple and it’s pedestal, although that is arguable, I think it’s more dramatic because of the legacy it ignored and left behind on so many levels it’s cosmic in it’s absurdity.

I smell what your rock is cooking. This was the single biggest deal breaker on my end. That and sequence creation. I’m not happy people prefer or are even remotely in compliance to this change, I just don’t understand how they can or prefer to work in this environment. I just don’t see the creative and method advantages. I’m immune to it’s charms.
