    Hi John,

Sorry, this issue is not quite dead yet. I just checked on Mediainfo and the iPhone has recorded at 16 different frame rates! The majority of videos (60% approx) are 1920x1080i @ 29.970fps, shortly followed by 24fps (30%), then the remaining 10% are totally random frame rates such as 26,586, 27.166 and 28.527 etc. The random frame rates are all unique with no two videos sharing the same. With that in mind, what is your opinion on MXF rendering settings? Seeing as they are mostly 29.970i and will be going into a project with another camera, which films at 1280×720 @ 29.970p, my thoughts were “HD EX 1920×1080 – 60i” is the best bet. Is that correct?

Lastly, the regions/batch render worked a treat. The only problem was it didn’t seem to bring across the name of each video, despite me naming the regions. Hence I had to create a folder for each new set of 15 videos I rendered. Do you know how I can give each video file a unique name in Vegas using this method, or is this not possible?

    Thanks again
    Jamie

    Hi John,

Here was my final product. The clip in question is at 00:16-00:21. I couldn’t really nail down the effect so just zoomed in on the canvas instead.

    Thanks again for your help!

OK great. So you’d recommend me just inserting 15 or so .mov clips at a time (which is the max before SVP crashes or starts dropping video) into the timeline and rendering out to Sony MXF files? Can I just ask what the benefit is of Sony MXF files as compared to say rendering them out to a hi-res mp4 format for example? I’d guess it’s something to do with Sony MXF files being lossless perhaps?

I will definitely check out VASST. I’ve been looking for a reliable, trustworthy option for SVP training for a while.

Thanks John. I thought that too, but I did check my task manager when the crashing/dropped video occurred and it was not maxed out?

Would you know a good program for converting to mxf? I used Freemake to convert to mp4 and the quality suffered quite badly.

    Thanks again

    Hi guys,

Thanks for your replies and apologies for the confusing questions and making the video private. I thought it would still work so long as you had the URL but obviously not. I’ve since changed it so it should be viewable now.

John, hopefully now that you’re able to see the video you’ll see why I would like it in reverse. I want to pan into the canvas. It’s just not as cool an intro when it opens with the canvas then pans away from it.

At the 15 second mark the canvas is nice and bright and the colours really pop against the black and white background. From the 5 second mark however (when the canvas comes into frame) until 15 seconds it’s a lot duller, and I’d like a way to try and brighten it up. I’m already using the mask tool in event pan/crop for the black and white effect however, so can’t simply cut the canvas out and add brightness to it. Is there any way to add brightness to just the canvas area as well as the colour effect I already have going on?

Also, any ideas to cover up those people walking backwards haha?

OK, I’ll try and rephrase my second issue. How do I make the canvas both colour AND brighter on a black and white background? Would really appreciate any help.

    Hi John,

Thanks for your reply. I went back into pan crop again following your advice and worked it out (right clicking on the image in pan crop) and going to match output aspect as you stated.

Thanks for resolving this for me!

    Cheers
    Jamie
