I am something of a novice and have recently finally sat down to edit together and tidy up clips forming an interview.
I am using M2T files and found that, though initially I had no problem, I get the same error (‘a necessary function has not been implemented’). I wish to edit the audio with a program I am familiar with, Cool Edit 2. Taking Colin’s tip, I found another way around this without splitting the audio further. Because I could “open a copy” provided I “swicthed” to left only or right only channel first, I was at least able to create an audio take. I then rendered the stereo track I really wished to use as a wav and named it with the same take as the one I had made from the single track. This replaced the left or right only track with the stereo track I wanted. I could then ‘open in audio editor’ the section of audio belonging to a single clip. I repeated this for additional clips but found I had to open each clip separately in Vegas in addition to make the wav file I needed.
This seems a long way to get the functionality I want. Perhaps there is a quicker way to do this even with the existing limitations. Did anyone find another way to resolve this or hear of any proposals to fix the bug?
