    Thanks Jeremy,

Not if it wasn’t on the Primary storyline in the first place it won’t…there must be a way surely..

which means it’s not safe to rename clips…in which case why do they make it so easy t do so even including a “rename” function I wonder??

    Thanks for this.

I am beginning to understand the value of not dumping clips around across multiple tracks for the sake of it and thinking about the Primary Storyline as what is is; where the main stuff goes. Hard habit to break after so many years though. To start with I found it rather inflexible but perhaps i does encourage more focussed disciplined thinking. I’m still not sure. But I opened FCP7 the other day and it looked a little old fashioned.

I am beginning to understand the need for secondary storylines as a result of this reply.

    Auditions are great.

Compound clips I don’t really get but then I never really used nesting before.

    All the best

I don’t know if I’m getting a bit retarded but I think I selected everything including the connected clips and it would not let me do that…but yes when I select just the Primary storyline clips it does seem to work and take the connected clips with it.

Is that how it should work?

    cheers

yeah…first thing I do is insert a small slug (sorry gap) not storyline that I can attach things to that I don’t want to move or disappear.

I played with Imovie once and was irritated by the way I had to create little workarounds to get it to do what I wanted it do to.

    Just a bit niggly innit?
