But yes in the UK I have found only one facilities house taking it seriously and most editors still seem to have jumped on the bandwagon from the very early bad press from the initial “Beta” version.

I am using FCPX and enjoying it but I assure you in the UK people are very wary (as they were with FCP1 thru 3) and perhaps being typically British and conservative about it.

As regards ‘Dead in the water” unfortunately that seems to be the case here at the moment.

If you know different could you name some facilities houses and broadcasters adopting it in the UK because that would be very useful to me.

Could somebody run me through that workflow please? I have the project on a Pegasus RAID drive with original clips in an external folder or managed library (but not both) and I want to make a duplicate with proxy media to put on my laptop to take away for a couple of weeks and then come back and update project to main drive.

Nitpicking I know. Media Management is beautiful unfortunately in the UK the Avid community have seen the early release as an opportunity to go back to what they know.

So much negative stuff from editors who have not taken the trouble to learn it.

FCPX is dead in the water here pretty much apart from a very small community

Sorry to ask again but how do you get all the colour correction windows to open. I can only open one at a time according to which I am adjusting.

You seem to have it all worked out now.

Funny I’ve been doing some tests on this and yes you are right I think if you apply filters/effects in the multi cam timeline it does not affect the original and so it does seem to behave like a compound clip.

Yup It seems to understand the gaps automatically for stops and starts but if it doesn’t you can use markers to help it and these do not have to be frame accurate.

Double clicking the clip in the timeline is taking you into the ‘Angle Editor’ and you cannot cut your project there nor is it intended for you to try and do so.

The Angle Editor is there for making minor sync adjustments or applying effects or colour corrections to an entire clip. Not for cutting your project.

So yes the project must be “collapsed” as you put it for you to cut your project.

To get back double click the project again in the browser or click left arrow back to get back to it via timeline history. (or hit command and left bracket [ )
