I have found incredible advantages to editing single camera shoots in multi cam mode. To be able to cut between wide, mid close and see them all “in sync” in the angle viewer has been a revelation to me. Although naturally they are not in perfect sync as they would be for a multi cam shoot, to be able to play back and cut between the angles, for me is a brave new world.

Actually with Legacy I always wanted a single command to lock everything off in one go and I bet now somebody’s going to tell me there was one all along.

Out of interest Jeremy why no “lock off tracks” (apart from that I know we don’t have tracks any more but you get my drift I’m sure)?

Actually smart collections or keywords ain’t a bad idea. Apply the keywords ‘previous version’ or something like that.

I too would like be able to “lock off tracks” (to use other NLE parlance) as in other NLEs if only to remind me it’s not a current project/timeline if I accidentally go into the wrong version. My workaround is to disable everything in the timeline when i’m done with that version as a visual reminder that I’m done.
There may be better ways. It used to give me peace of mind to be able to lock everything off. I miss it.

To have one bit of software the accomplished both to a highly professional level is, perhaps, a little over ambitious (or greedy even)?
So where does FCPX stop before it hands over the audio baton?
Perhaps right where it is?
Maybe we should be content with a whole new NLE that takes us just so far before we hand over to Pro Tools, Sadie, Logic?
Maybe ditto Color?
Incidentally I do not know anybody (in my circle of colleagues and friends) who uses Logic for audio post here in the UK (Music composition yes). I guess people do but to what extent?
Do you people use Logic for audio post much?

I for one get way more out of this place than I put in. But I try and contribute where I can.
