I’m not massive on auditions either. I tend to use for my favourite two or three takes just so I know I can go back to the other one easily. I always used to stack them in the timeline so Auditions is a ‘better’ option than my previous workflow.
I was away on a course last week and one of the people there was an Avid editor of many years standing. Why would she want to change? I certainly wasn’t going to try and convert her. But she told me she was more curious about FCPX than she had been about 7 or Premiere because it was so different which I thought was interesting.

Hey Herb
I enjoy your input because it helps me understand X better having to (in my mind at least) understand the trade offs and assess the benefits to me.
I can say from my experience that I no longer notice the trade offs or things I have ‘lost’ from FCP7 but still am very much aware of the things I really enjoy about FCPX that I know I did not have available to me before.
I am surprised that curiosity has not got the better of you by now and that you haven’t downloaded the free trial. I think you may even surprise yourself!

And the faster you cut it the better the film for sure.

Absolutely. But I suspect I am not the only customer who has begun to find it a little tedious. Does losing a bit of goodwill make the teeniest difference to Apple? probably not. Absolutely not it seems. Ho hum.

“Yes doesn’t duplicate in your scenario but in the simpler one I described before whether or not I hit option before of after selecting the clips makes no difference.
of course is doesn’t matter anyway but I would be interested to now how Premier handles this scenario.

I’m just suggesting it would be nice/polite/courteous to feel we had a bit more of the two way dialogue that Adobe give their customers, I may be naive for wishing for it. But if somebody comes along giving me what Apple give me AND what Adobe give their customers I would jump ship tomorrow.
I do feel that Adobe seem to value their customers more than Apple do and that makes me think more and more about whether I am driving the right car.
All great Empires come to an end and usually it’s when they start to get complacent.
And we are not just talking Rome and Alexander the Great. IBM. MySpace. Blackberry. We could write a big list.
So customer loyalty can be valuable, and has been something that kept Apple afloat in the past. Do we feel as loyal today to Apple as we did 10 years ago or more?
Love the products. Don’t like the attitude as much.

Actually when i do it the clips become duplicated in front of the other shots leaving the original selections in place.
Nevertheless just goes to show. All those years and hours and I never knew about that option drag feature.

It works for me with multiple clips also oddly.
