  • Hey Mark…I am a revenue stream for our Association so they let me go where the work is. It’s been a fun gig.

I transfer cards to a portable hard drive using the Panasonic P2CMS software. I create a folder for the production then output the contents of the cards to that folder. I do not keep the cards separate…all of the footage is going into the same folder. I’ve always done it this way and never had problems.
When I edit in FCP 6.8 I Log and Transfer from the portable hard drive.

Did you ever discover a fix or workaround for this? I’m having similar issues.

    Thanks,

I forgot to mention that the clip plays back fine on a P2 Reader and in the camera. The Pavtube convertor was unable to transfer the MXF file for this clip.

September 19, 2013 at 4:01 pm in reply to: New Teleprompter Software Recommendations?

I have an old Listec Prompter that I had quit using. The monitor was old and had limited inputs. The software was no longer friendly with my newer Mac laptops. Several months ago I started checking out Prompter apps on the iPad. The iPad is just a little smaller than the original prompter monitor. The Listec monitor now serves as a tray for my iPad. I use the Teleprompt+ app, and use my iPhone for remote control of the scrolling. I just had to make a spacer for my camera plate, so an HVX200 would work with the hood. Works like a champ.

  • This reminds me of a shoot I had in the Nevada desert earlier this year. I was looking for a vantage point up in the hills, panning across the town below. On our drive up into the hills we passed a house that had signs posted “no cameras.”

I asked my local client what was up with that. Apparently the homeowner had been in the news quite a bit a few years prior. We continued down the road, stopping just past the property. I got out, set up my camera and tripod, and shot several slow panning takes, making sure to not include the house with the signs.

As we were driving back down the road, the people at the house with the signs were checking us out. We waved as we drove by. And now I know where Heidi Fleiss lives.

    Joel,

My Pro Res QT files were created on a MAC that is running OS 10.5.8. The Playback Pro MAC laptop is running OS 10.7.5. I just downloaded the updated PlayBack Pro, so we’ll see. Thanks again for your help.

It seems ok now…trashed preferences..restarted….to answer your question, Shane, I was capturing to a Seagate “go-Flex” drive, via USB 3.0, just to make files out of the old Mini DV tapes…I will be editing the files next week.

    I believe the G-Flex is 7200RPMs.

    Thanks,
    James
