    After years with no problems of any kind with P2 media I’ve recently had several issues. I get the red exclamation mark on spanned clips. They will play in the Log and Transfer window, but they won’t Transfer into the FCP logging bin. This has happened twice in the last week.

    Is this likely a problem with the P2 cards? Any ideas/suggestions?

    Hey James,

    Are you transferring all media/cards to the computer first?
    How or what are you using to do so?

    I transfer cards to a portable hard drive using the Panasonic P2CMS software. I create a folder for the production then output the contents of the cards to that folder. I do not keep the cards separate…all of the footage is going into the same folder. I’ve always done it this way and never had problems.
    When I edit in FCP 6.8 I Log and Transfer from the portable hard drive.

    Have you tried:

    Trash prefs.
    Repair permissions
    Reboot

    I would try that.
