Funnily enough, I’ve contemplated the LTO.

But it was only 20GB and seemed like a waste of all that extra tape space on the LTO.

That and the fact that it’s slightly more ponderous to get something back off the tape if the client suddenly decides to work on a 2008 project; as they are, unfortunately, wont to do!

I have a huge 2TB Lacie which I’ve already backed them up to, but a co-worker is extremely mistrustful of this as a back up means and insists I look into XDCAM.

In the end, one of us realised that there was a simple option of “combine folders” in the clip browser that merged the two files together and then allowed us to export them as normal.

Hope that might prove useful for someone else!

In the end I used sub rip..

It gives you the option of opening a VOB and extracting the subtitles as BMP… plus it lets you choose a relevant format, i.e Sonic DVD, Scenarist, Phillips VCD etc… Once ripped, you saved a text file as well and then it’s just like importing them as new.

Plus, I used TMPGEnc to make the VOB files apppear as MPEG 2 files again.
