I’ve always felt that video editing was like playing a musical instrument, and when I edit I am equally aware of the effects and rhythms of the audio I am working with as I am the visual component. I’ve always cleaned up ragged audio (as for instance in dialogue cutting) in order to properly work with the visual edit. But I’ve noticed that many other editors I have worked with leave this sort of clean up for audio-post. Drives me nuts and I don’t understand how anyone can really properly edit when the audio isn’t at least somewhat cleanly edited as well.

I downloaded the RX3 advanced and the dialogue denoiser is nothing short of miraculous. It’s probably worth the price tag just by itself.
I definitely will try out the SoundSoap plugin as well.

I’m partial towards iZotope RX3 at the moment. But curious about other solutions like SoundSoap as Charlie mentioned.

I’ve got a similar setup to yours except a Promise Pegasus 2 instead of your RAID.
That render (even with unoptimized footage, and no 3rd party plugins; currently for me, AVCHD) should only take a couple of minutes.
You might want to test the same render without the 3rd party plugins.

It’s as easy as plugging them in.”
Second this. I have not had any connectivity issues with this Belkin dock.
Only thing that could be better for me is to put the power and at least one of the Tbolt connectors on the opposite side as all the other plugs. I use it primarily for temporary connections to legacy hard drives, iPhone charging, etc., so I like the main set of plugins to face front on my desk. Not sure what others think of this.

I’m also curious how both Apple and Adobe count enterprise installs. For instance our local high school has both FCPX and Premiere CC installed on a multitude of computers. Currently, most students use FCPX and only one or two per semester choose to use Premiere. I wonder how they account for those kinds of situations.

– FCP X, 1 million (NAB 2014)”But the bigger question that will never be answered is how many of these installs are being used with any regularity.
For instance, I have all 3 on my system currently, but I’ve only used FCPX with a smattering of FCP7 in the last year or two. Others probably have FCPX installed but are only be using Premiere.
Though I suspect that I will eventually be using both Premiere and FCPX more often than not. And I imagine that this will be true of most other editors as well.
The time of one primary NLE is no longer IMHO… time will tell.

The same could be said of Media Composer or Premiere.

Exact same reason I choose to use FCPX rather than PE. Why use a 3rd party solution when I can do it just as fast and just as well in FCPX?
