Any answer to your question? I too want to set up a Mac Pro (early 2008). I want to add 1 internal drive for Adobe Premiere and 1 internal drive for FCP X.
Do they both need OS Mt. Lion?
Can they both use the same graphics card as you ask? Currently I have NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT installed. I can add the Quadro 4000??
What about legacy productions edited on FCP 6.06 will they open on a new graphics card and in OS Mt. Lion?? For example, I was just asked to do a re-edit on a past production edited in FCP 6.06.

Any thoughts and suggestions are appreciated.

The images in question are scanned photographic prints. My understanding is that half tone is preparing for printing in newspapers, pre-digital. I think these are regular prints.
Thanks for the suggestion.

I am wondering if it is a render issue as the photos with moves done early in the edit don’t have wavy line/moire issues.

Thanks. But still same results. I have done this type of editing before when HD was a glimmer in someone’s eye. But did not have this severe an issue and so inconsistent. Some images are OK and some don’t work. I am checking all variables and haven’t gotten far. Also when I rendered in 8 bit and Pro Res the image with the move on was OK for a couple of renders then I added another photo to the timeline and it went to black at end of render.

This film was started 4 years ago when filming multicam of 1.5 hour concerts were not really feasible on HD cams at least on my budget.

I had labeled them with 8-19-08 and #2. I renamed the folders with only words just now. Still the same problem importing P2. But earlier I had imported folders successfully even one with the 8-19-08 (but no #).

So I transferred one of the re-named folders to the desktop and opened FCP on the desktop. That let me import P2. So it must be something with the hards drives LaCie 1TB via 400 firewire purchased in last year. But I have been importing P2 on the hard drives successfully until this week??

I solved the problem but not in any conventional way. I used P2CMS. The software “ingested” the folder with the P2 files and then exported them to the desktop of the iMAC. Then opened FCP on the desktop of the iMAC (not the Hard Drive as before). I could then import via Panasonic P2 into FCP the files I had exported via P2CMS. Then I transfered the Quicktime files of the P2 footage onto my hard drive. I copied both the original P2 folders and the exported folders from P2CMS as well to the hard drive. I tried going direct to FCP without going thru P2CMS all from the iMAC and it still said corrupt or incomplete files.

But wow did this take a long time. Especially since I didn’t have enough room on the iMAC hard drive. So I had to go through the whole process and then copy all to hard drive and then trash desktop files which meant unlocking files and repeat three times.

But I still can’t go direct from P2 folder to FCP???

I don’t think so. File names are 0001A9, 00072Y, for example.

My P2 import window is slightly different than your example. I don’t have a preferences button. But I do have a box that says remove duplicate/adv. pull down frames. And this is unchecked.

When I have the P2 import window open and I click on the folder I created with the contents and the last clip in it, the contents folder is active and the last clip is not active (I am guessing because it is a file not a folder). This is probably OK but I am just trying to figure out what is not working .
