Thanks, Bob. I realize my set up is limiting. But we don’t need to work on the files simultaneously. I think art this point I will connect the two machines via ethernet as it is a quick fix for now. The intern can then prep projects on their computer (rather than them taking over mine) then save. I can then pick up where they left off, while they start on a second project. Not ideal I know, but a least we can have two work stations working independently and access files easily from each. Thanks again for you input. J

Thanks! Appreciate your input. A simple ethernet connection is well within budget! 🙂

    Thanks, Angelo!

I do have an Apple Time Capsule that I use at home for back up and wifi. I think this also works as a router and has a number of ethernet ports in the back, so i’m wondering if that could be useful in anyway?

Is there any advantage to using a router as opposed to simply directly wiring the two computers like you suggested? Also, is there any issue with working over an ethernet connection? I have only ever worked over FireWire.

Thanks Paul! I opted for the first method (as I don’t want to have to shell out $400 for the software). Have you ever tried doing this yourself?.. I have given it a go a few times now and just cant get it to work. The instructions are very thorough… I just don’t know where I am going wrong?

Thanks Michael. Sadly I know very little about Flash, would you happen to know how I might go about embedding the link? Can I embed it directly into the flv? I’ll post on the Flash forum if you are unsure. Thanks for your response!

Thanks I got it!!! sheesh! so simple!

Through my messing around I have noticed that I have some loss of quality perhaps. This is apparent in the simulator. Stuff just look very pixelated. I swear that I had it looking better and a decent quality (in the simulator).

What is the best work flow to produce the best quality DVD? From past experience I know that DVD’s generally look bad on a monitor due to resolution. But how can I get them looking there best? I have checked the 2 pass VBR in preferences. Is there anything else I can do?

    Thanks!!

    Thanks everyone,

Sorry I disappeared there for a while… didn’t mention that I am in the Philippines right now so opposite to EST. Thanks for all your input, I reviewing my options today. For those that mentioned Adobe AE and/or Combustion, sadly I don’t have this software (could dload a trial though).

    Thanks again,

    James

    Thanks Peter,

I had played with the sequence settings and frame size. But it is the aspect ratio setting below this that is posing the problem. I am restricted to video formats/aspect ratios with no ability to customize.

    David,

Yes, thanks, it does make sense. My production is for the web. So I guess its kind of frustrating to have to adhere to the tv, projector formats. But his is the way FCP is set up and I do understand.

I may be clutching at straws here but is there any way around this? Again, I am looking to produce a piece which is in a 35mm still camera format dimensions and crop the video to fit within this frame. In you opinion what are my options here. I would hate to have to crop my still frames.

    Appreciate your response,

    James
