Yeah, I’ll skip tech support hell on this one. I’m just going to lick my wounds and ask FCP 7 to take me back. I can see from my time in the wild that though she’s old and developmentally challenged (as in end of life), FCP 7 is still my best bet for happiness for the near term.

Yes- See picture in first post. Unfortunately I just don’t think PrP is quite ‘professional’ enough for me. I don;t understand how they can get After Effects so right and PrP so wrong. Pr was the first editor I used back in 92-93′ when I was in middle school. How can the simplest things still be screwed up almost 20 years later?
I know it has a few advantages over FCP 7 but at this point after 2 projects and a whole long list of gripes I’m going to try out AVID and go back to FCP with an XML FCP to AE workflow while I test out AVID.
The simplest things are totally wrong in PrP, like loosing all progress when you cancel a render, dynamic playback quality for realtime and the totally unresponsive UI.
They’ve had so long to get this right and haven’t. In my mind that’s the biggest indicator of what they’ll do in the future which is why I’ll be going elsewhere post FCP.

Hey, Kevin. Thanks for the interest. I’m including a shot of all my settings from the apps. In Pr I chose new sequence and used a RED to 720p preset to start off. Once the RED footage was cut, I imported the sequence into Ae from Ae so that I could apply effects per clip rather than global (as with dynamic linking). I don’t think it has anything to do with Ae as I use the same workflow to output ProRes as I have for years with no problems in FCP. Pr exports the footage fine, it’s just in the program monitor that it looks aliased at 100%. I find myself rechecking every graphic to make sure it’s Pr displaying improperly as opposed to an Ae export or codec problem.
