I don’t think you’re doing anyone any favors, when instead of being creative and trying to help your client to get their ideas on screen, you’re constantly posting questions about most basic things. All I see are questions about you not knowing how to use LUTs, not knowing how to apply different grades to shots from the same source material, even questions about the interface. There is nothing wrong with asking questions, if you don’t know something, but if you want to know about something, like Colortrace, why not check the manual first? Just write “colortrace” into the search window and the manual will take you there. Seriously, how can you stress your creativity, if you lack understanding of the most basic Resolve concepts. At the end of the day, those are your clients and it’s up to you to decide, if your skills are good enough in order to deliver the quality of service, that you can be proud of. So, shouldn’t you first learn to walk before you start to run?

Using 20 nodes on regular basis is not normal. You should look into using less:-)
But if you feel, that using so many nodes is necessary, then take your time and name your nodes- skin, sky, vignette ets. That’s why this feature is there… -
Sorry to be so blunt, but may be you shouldn’t take the job then, until you know the Resolve better. It’s just unfair to your client…

No need to get nervous. Just make a copy of the project and do whatever the manual telling you to do without worry. Yes, you can remove your material from the pool after trimming it and adding new trimmed r3ds into the new folder. if you follow the manual, consolidation does work quite well as is “reconfirm from bin(s)” command..

Not an ideal solution. This way your colortrace will not work. It is better, if you use a version instead.

I think the confusion here is with “fully manually”” and “frame by frame”. As correctly pointed out by Mike, dust is usually present on a single frame, so it is by definition is “frame by frame” operation. But the process can be somewhat automated, where, for example, the software, like PF Clean can help to identify dust, scratches, blemishes. Then the user have a choice to either “trust” the software algorithms in identifying those problem areas and let it do the dust and scratch removal in fully automatic mode or do it in semi-automatic mode, where user have to accept those areas, identified by the software as a problem areas first. As there is no software that is perfect in interpreting what is a good image and what needs to be removed, there is no substitution to a good pair of eyes, so it is obviously better to do it in “fully manually”” or, if available, use the semi-automatic mode.

I was under the impression, that only Revival was capable of dirt removal. That’s why I never even looked at the menu as I thought, that all that did is to send those frames for clean up processing in Revival. I guess it’s time to investigate this functionality. Thanks for pointing out wrong info!

Yes, just render the whole timeline as a single file as a Prores 444 or some other high quality codec. Then export an EDL and use it in Resolve to notch your cuts. Easy…

You couldn’t find it because it doesn’t exist. You need to use third party software, like PF Clean or you could use DV Revival. But if you are not on Linux, you’re out of luck.
