My Codec Not Found error is still persisting. The top video track has some HDV clips. If I take those out then the timelime will render fine. This is truly annoying as it has to be a corrupt file someplace.
I have redigitized the clips, but to no avail. QT conversion seems to work, but at the end of the render the Codec Not Found dialog error box pops up.

Okay, I have made more progress in my endeavor of this most irritating error.

The top layer of this project has several HDV clips. I have found that I remove them I can render the sequence.

Another thing I have tried and had work is to export the sequence EDL as an XML. Then quit FCP, trash preferences and start a new HDV project with the sequence also set for vanilla 1080i HDV, which is what the top layer of clips is. Then open the XML edit and export that to DV using QT conversion. I do get the same error message *at the end of the render* (the error dialog box actually showed up TWICE), but the export is there, opens and plays fine.

STRANGE!

PS I tried to find an app called FCP rescue, but it seems to have been removed from all sites that had this download. Anyone know the story there?

Well, I went and downloaded the XDCAM stuff for Mac and re-installed everything.
I worked on XDCAM footage (the old test project I first started out) and got it to work.
I went back to Final Cut and the DV project. ALL IS NOW WORKING!!! I guess there was a
missing file that Final Cut wanted OR ELSE. Well, FCP now has it and all seems to be normal.

Thanks for the response. Just so you know, the project that cannot export, print to video or render a timeline is DV anamorphic. So is the sequence.

I am using version 6.0.4, which does have EX1 codecs,
SO is it possible that it needs an additional codec installed to work?
This seems silly as FINAL CUT has the ability to render out almost any video format.

Or is this a BUG that is biting me? Anyone from Apple’s team with the answer around here?

Hmm, maybe Final Cut just can’t accept that is not installed and has this thing stuck in its craw. Good thinking though Rafael. I guess I need to find it and get it in there.
I kinda thought I had it installed when I used the EX disc that came with the camera, but maybe not.

This might work, but I have to wait until tomorrow to get the disc from work.

No, I have made sure the sequence is set for DV. I have even created another whole new project set for DV anamorphic and copy and pasted the sequence into that. I have trashed FCP preference panes, etc. in library. Final Cut just can’t seem to forget the past.

Does anyone know how to use terminal to terminate hidden settings?

Wow, thanks for such a quick response.

No. The only “still” is a freeze frame of HDV footage created in Final Cut.
