Well I forgot to say we are in the PAL world … and the panasonic stuff is a AJ-SD93.

If anybody works with this VTR, please post the fcp settings you use.

    Thanks a lot

Just digitize your HDV through firewire, using Blackmagic HDV easy setup in Final Cut Pro.
Anyway, you will need HDlink to monitor HD on a 2K monitor (Cinema display or other).

Big disk is enough if you stay in the hdv codec.

This is the way it works here.

    Hello Luke,

    Thank you for the support.
Well, I think I’ve already tried most of your suggestions. I output a Pal signal from FCP, the monitor is Pal.
I’ve tried the deck control and the same thing happens : no signal on the composite
    Same for desktop output.
My easy setup is Blackmagic Pal 8 bits.

I’ll be in the office in an hour and will check if my Decklink desktop is on Pal.
I will also try another decklink card (Extreme).

    I’ll keep you informed.

BTW, Blackmagic has the best support I ever found on the web …Thank you for that !

well, we are living in a world where many systems coexist.
I didn’t want to attack the Avid (I don’t know it enough), but tried to find some “positive” differences for FCP.
Thank you for your posts : I retain the point of the quicktime files and also the one of the black code (I am living in a land where we still black the tapes).

    Thanks again

Thanks for the answer, Chill. It’s very useful to me.
Can you precise which kind of Avid you use : xpress, composer, dv, ….?
