If you choose the Color Corrector filter, you can drag the bars of Blacks, Whites, and Midtones to estimate the level changes. That is what I use and it works pretty well.

Okay I’m not sure what the original problem was but I figured out a solution: The final timeline that was about 50 minutes long consisted of 5 different sequences. I put the sequences in the final timeline so that my final timeline didn’t have a million edits in it…it was just 5 clean sequences varying from 5 minutes to 20 minutes. Each of those sequences could be opened to reveal the edits, and one actually had ANOTHER simplified sequence in it, along with other edits.

What I did was export each of the sequences SEPARATELY to a QT Movie (as REFERENCE movies, not self-contained). When played in QT they were all perfectly in sync. Then with QT Pro I opened up a “New Movie” along with each of the 5 separate sequence movies. Then I just copied and pasted each movie into the “New Movie” and compiled the sequences in QT Pro. When I clicked save, it asked me if I wanted to make a reference movie or a self-contained one. Even though all of the 5 sequence videos were reference, I clicked self-contained, and it made the entire 50 minute video self-contained, which is a little off topic but it saved me a few hours of waiting around in FCP.

Anyway I sent this to the Compressor (DVD 90 Min Best Quality) and it did its thing for about 5 hours, but finally I was left with a video and audio file, that, when put in DVD SP, were perfectly in sync!!!!

So I guess next time I’ll just keep all the edits in one FCP sequence and see if that changes anything.

Everything is completely rendered. The only thing I could possibly think of is that there are some gaps in video and audio (not necessarily together). If there is no slug there, could these gaps be pushed together when exporting? That might cause the out of sync problem.
