Ok, but this is what Apple said about Final Cut Pro 6, it doesn’t indicate additional hardware needed. I know it aint’ gonna look pretty:

    External Video Monitoring
You can now output to external video interfaces whose settings don’t match those of your sequence. Here are some examples of some of the possibilities:
A DV or HDV sequence output to an SDI signal on a third-party interface
An uncompressed NTSC or PAL sequence output to a DV FireWire output
An HDV sequence output to a DV FireWire output
Sequence and output formats must have compatible frame rates. For example, sequences with a frame rate of 60, 30, or 24 fps can be output to a 30 fps device, but not to a 25 or 50 fps device. Also, when an output device does not match your sequence settings, additional real-time processing is required. This means that
segments that already require a lot of real-time processing power may need to be rendered to play back.

I knew they were, I just didn’t think it would affect monitoring. I thought Final Cut Pro downconverted HDV to DV25 and sent it out firewire for monitoring.

I know there maybe another can of worms waiting when I try to print to video the JVC HDV footage in HDV to a Sony deck.

The last authorized JVC repair facility in DFW to my knowlege was Electronic Shop and they closed their doors a couple of years ago.

JVC has the worst phone support for tech support. I have no suggestions on how to get a human on the phone for tech support on professional JVC product.

I don’t the particular answer to your problem, but maybe related to ours. We drop self contained quicktime movies onto a networked (windows) Cleaner machine. We cannot make Final Cut Pro render the file across the network. It’s been awhile, but I think it was file size related. However, we can create the self contained movie on the mac and copy it to the networked drive just fine.

Another sleeper steak deal is available 24×7 at Ellis Island, steak, baked potato and other stuff for $5. Not on menu, you have to ask. For me, took the place of the late night $2 deal at Horseshoe.

Well, I should have qualified, rooms all get dark at night in the hotel/casinos downtown and the strip. One possible exception would be the Western. I’ve stayed in all but one or two of the downtown hotels, and all of the strip hotels built before about 1995, and they are all about the same to me. Certainly there is a big difference between a room at the Venetian and a room at the Las Vegas Club but… they all get dark at night.

My play every year, and it’s not for everyone, is to get a $50 hotel room downtown, a $25 rent car, and park at Riviera (free) and take shuttle or hoof it. I didn’t call around much, but I found $50 rooms at Las Vegas Club and Binions. There might be others. The rooms all get dark at night.

The Windows machine has NTFS drive. We are able to copy a 5 gig file as one file to the same windows machine.

  • We have 9 80 gig external Acomdata drives I bought 3-4 years ago. One died, (never bothered to find out if it was drive or enclosure problem), but the others are still going strong. I just bought 9 more Acomdata drives.
