Where are the best hotel deals found.
Posted by Danic101 on March 8, 2007 at 3:51 amThis is my first year going to NAB and I was wondering where the best strip hotel deals where found, thought the NAB website or one of the online travel sites?

March 8, 2007 at 8:28 pmThe best deals are through the NAB site. We’re frequent Vegas visitors, and even the players card/special deal prices we’re getting are much higher than the block rates from NAB.

March 12, 2007 at 9:27 pmMy play every year, and it’s not for everyone, is to get a $50 hotel room downtown, a $25 rent car, and park at Riviera (free) and take shuttle or hoof it. I didn’t call around much, but I found $50 rooms at Las Vegas Club and Binions. There might be others. The rooms all get dark at night.

Sometimes, they don’t — sometimes that’s when the action starts!
Back when Ron and I first started going to NAB, we made the mistake of thinking there would be plenty of rooms available and we didn’t make a reservation. We finally found a vacant room, checked in and the room had been in use — people jumped out the back window while we unlocked the door to go in. Needless to say, we left that place and felt lucky to find something else — a bridal suite with mirrors on the ceiling and walls, but it also had a giant jacuzzi right next to the bed.
Another time, years ago, I checked into a cheap hotel. The desk clerk looked at me rather strangely. I settled in only to discover, the night was just beginning.Knocks on the doors surrounding my room about every 20 minutes let me know exactly why the desk clerk looked at me so oddly.
So, make sure the sheets are clean and the locks work.

March 13, 2007 at 8:33 pmOh, and if you’re renting a car anyway, there’s always Stateline. You can get rooms there for as little as $19.95– they’re clean, fairly quiet and about a 20 minute drive in to Las Vegas.

March 13, 2007 at 9:52 pmWell, I should have qualified, rooms all get dark at night in the hotel/casinos downtown and the strip. One possible exception would be the Western. I’ve stayed in all but one or two of the downtown hotels, and all of the strip hotels built before about 1995, and they are all about the same to me. Certainly there is a big difference between a room at the Venetian and a room at the Las Vegas Club but… they all get dark at night.

March 13, 2007 at 11:04 pmJust checked with the website for the Primm Hotel and Casino, and I guess prices have gone up. It’s now listed at $31.95 and up. So, not that good of a deal because you’d still have the drive time.

March 14, 2007 at 1:15 pmI,m staying at the Gold Coast. Booked it through the NAB site. It offers a free shuttle to the strip and the free shuttle to the convention center. Price is excellent. It is one mile off strip, so not a bad walk. from what I can read, it is a decent hotel with good eats.
Last year I stayed at the Stardust….they just knocked it down…..I hope it wasn’t my fault 🙂
