Thanks for the response Tim, managed to find the folders and restore them to. The archive all appears to be there which is brilliant (indeed might be the best thing that happens this weekend).
The problem I now have is that when I’m trying to create a new archive Bru hangs on the Estimating size dialogue before the archive begins, recording 0 bytes and 0 files and I can’t pinpoint the issue to drivers etc.
I’m going to run a clean install on a new system and see what happens but any thoughts on why this one might be playing up?
Once again thanks for the on going help on these forums.

Amazingly I’ve got ‘most’ of the computer back up and running again and BRU is now listing the tape archive but when I try and create a new one it’s hanging on the Estimating Size window and not progressing any further.
I’m sure a clean install is what’s required but any ideas?

Sorry to reply to myself….. but further to the above trying to click on a mask vertex allows me to select it but again, as above, it makes it jump down and to the right and so the cursor is not connected to it, but is able to move it as normal……

That’s some good troubleshooting!
I’ll take a look when I can thanks for the pointers.

As you can see Media Encoder recognises that the source has 4 channels of audio so thats ok. The output is set to stereo, which is what I’d like and the media encoder manual says
“Specify how many audio channels are in the exported file. If you choose fewer channels than are in the master track of a sequence or project, Adobe Media Encoder downmixes the audio.”
except it’s not. It’s just ditching two of the channels so I’m only getting voice.
Once again thanks for looking at this!

Yeah thank you, this is what I’ve done in the end.
However because I do a lot of news type shows where we run compilations of previous packages etc that have gone out I find it convenient to have my masters archived with split channel audio so I can simply lay them in a timeline and remove the audio. Seems a shame to have to make sure that I have a stereo and split channel file ‘on hand’ just in case, when up until now I’ve been ok with just one……
The file that I am getting out of Premiere is giving me what I was wanting, which is to say a ProRes file with the interviewees dialogue cut on a stereo track and the sound effects and music on another one. I can now where necessary put the ProRes playout into another project and remove the music to just use the interview.
However when I encode this ProRes file through media encoder to upload to the web etc I’m only getting the interview dialogue out the other end and not the music etc too.
Interestingly (or not) I always used to do quick encodes of files for viewing on vimeo with Quicktime’s 720 preset but this doesn’t seem to be mixing down the audio either anymore since moving from a Snow Leopard system to an El Capitan one. Instead the files are coming out with two discreet stereo tracks, the second of which is discarded when uploading anyway….
Once again thanks for the response

Thanks for the response. I’m trying to transcode from a ProRes 422 master with uncompressed audio played out of a premiere multichannel audio sequence.
On my timeline I have 8 audio tracks. A1 and A2 have interviewee 1’s dialogue edit A3 and A4 have interviewee 2’s voice edit A5 has sound effects A6 has a stereo music track and so does A7. A8 is currently empty. The Audio track mixer is set to send A1, A2, A3 and A4 (all centred) to 1+2 and A5,A6,A7 to 3+4.
Once again thanks for the response.

The plot thickens……
When I run a file with split audio produced on my Snow Leopard system through Quicktime in order to get a quick 720p encode for viewing on vimeo, using the Snow Leopard system I get a file that is
H.264 1280×720
AAC 44100Hz Stereo (L,R)The same file run through Quicktime on my El Capitan System is
H.264 1280×720
AAC 48000Hz Stereo (L,R)
AAC 48000Hz Stereo (L,R)So it’s no longer doing what I am (probably incorrectly) calling a mixdown when this is uploaded to vimeo only one of the channels is going up….. No idea what any of that shows and it still doesn’t change the fact that Media Encoder is throwing away all the channels except the first two when I do an encode.

Sorry to bump this but I’m still having the same issue.
The Source when I put it in Media Encoder says, 1920×1080 (1.0) 25fps, Progressive 48000 Hz 4 Channel
so it recognises that there are multiple audio channels there.
The Media Encoder Manual says that it will automatically downmix available channels if Stereo output is selected. Which it is (Output: 1920×1080 (1.0) Progressive VBR, AAC 320kbps 48kHz, Stereo).
However instead of downmixing Media Encoder is still just throwing away the two channels of audio that contain the pieces music. Any suggestions?

December 10, 2015 at 1:32 pm in reply to: Exporting AAF/OMF to ProTools workflow questions…Sorry this is of no real help to you and I’m not looking to hijack this thread but I’m replying just to bump this back up as I too would be interested to know this as currently having similar issues around how Premiere handles mono, stereo etc on multichannel and OMF output.
I’m assuming there is something I’m missing earlier on when setting up my project but so far I’m yet to find it.
