Yep nice system. I had a similar dual boot/hardware at the office as well. It is sweet.

I am liking this “Triple Head2Go” but tell me how is this better than
popping in another video card (NVIDIA) and running the third monitor off that. May save a few dollars.

What am I missing?

Yes Media Composer Software 3.something. Have not upgraded to 4 yet. At my home studio I have no hardware. I seem to ingest more DNG files than traditional digitizing so I can get away with software only.

I an old AVID editor. LOVE IT. But they are BOTH great tools. However I dont want to lose touch with the AVID world. I was just booked on a job using AVID and it was nice to jump on my system and see if I still knew how to drive the machine. Doing this before going to their studio and sitting with clients is worth it to me.

I know it is real hard to take a step back and learn something new, especially when you know how to use something so well but speed will come from using it.

Dont know if you were asking me or not but my AVID/FCP setup is currently both systems on the same boot drive.

However in the past, and I think that I prefer this, is to have to have a dual boot system. Its great with the MAC PRO because you can have two boots and two internals.

FCP likes the latest OS where AVID is slower to catch up. Having a dual boot system was great because it allowed me to have 2 different OS’s.

I really like having both systems available to me, although these days it seems the industry I am in has pushed most folks down the FCP path.

Do you have one? Have you experienced any issue with these?

I like the Triple. Looks to keep it digital.

FYI if you log in and try to upgrade FCP, it gives you
options to download any version. It is just not apparent on
the front page.

Seems like we all have our favorites. I have some Lacie’s that are pretty old too – 2000 or so. And then some from the same era that have died.

Drives fail.

Redundancy is what I subscribed to now.

The new GRAID 1TB started shipping on 9.23.09. So I ordered one. I have used the G TECH many times and like them as much as anything. And when I get around to it I may install a SATA port to take advantage of the esata capabilities.

It is fun hearing what everybody thinks and hearing what there favorites are.

yes I have used the Lacie too. They are fine.

I just noticed, when I call the comp shop, that that one was discontinued.

Maybe it just its name?
