While that certainly is a viable option, I don’t have time to roundtrip with clients sitting in the rooms. The comps that I am doing are down and dirty, only to sell an idea. We would then do it for real with a gfx artist in their tool of choice.

The back and forth from application to application to tweak is not appealling.
However when working without clients I no issue with it all.

Glad to hear other people find the tool useful.

Yeah I know, but it really should not be. One thing that i like about FCP, among others, is it seems easier for third party folks to write plug-ins. That is why I assumed that has to be something out there.

I guess I am lucky to be able to use both platforms. But it is interesting how many facilities are phasing out AVID.

Anyway if you hear of an AniMatte plug-in out there please let me know.

If someone out there is not familiar with AniMatte in AVID, it is nothing really extraordinary, just a matte tool, unlimited points with a Bezier Curves functionality, that you can animatte. Also has the ability to multiple mattes from one efx and full feathering capabilities.

    Thanks

Yeah it was MC 2.8 that I was working on. I installed 6.0 on the laptop, but it is pretty ridiculous, ie clunky. So I guess that I really was not comparing apples to apples.

But it is good to hear that you believe that they need a revamp as well.

I too believe that they sort of rush things to market and let us beta test for them. Meanwhile AVID is much more proprietary, resulting in a little more stability, in my opinion.

    thanks for weighing in.
