    Only prep has begun.

Very large Project. FCP has hard time with large projects. Anything over 100mb for a project file in it SLLLLOOOW. Avid is more robust well back when I used it was. But Last job I did on it has been a year or so. So I assume it must AS robust.

    Yes.

Cutting in the AVID OFfline online, Finish in SMOKE/FLAME.

I would take what has been done in FCP and bring it into AVID via XML.

    hey Jeremy,

    so we are on 5.5.2

    There was no report generated.

For another test, I ran it in reverse. PPro to FCP XML Opened my that XML in FCP and it worked great. Then saved that proj, kicked out an XML and opened it in PPro, ie went back FCP to PPPro. And that worked. Few things were wonky (offline) but essentially it worked.

So something is up with that original FCP Project (the big one that fails) but without a report I can not see which file it is hanging up on that essentially crashes it.

I got a report going from PPro to FCP but not from FCP to PPro. Even on the one that worked. It was not in the main folder from which I pulled the XML (like it was when I went from PPro to FCP – I saw that report and it was all there)

not sure where that puts me…..

    Hey Jeremy,

I am new to PPro. Our Facility is testing out the program as we are thinking about transferring from FCP.

Where do I find that log?

I will look in if it is 5.5 or 5.5.2

” The Importer reported a generic error”

So XML of FCP that are simple. Maybe one folder bunch of clips have worked.

    XML’s of Seq have worked.

However this project that has tons of folders within folders with mix media all fails.

    ideas?

    thanks

  • [Paul Jay] “No, just keep editing with fcp7
The world doesnt end the day fcpx will be released.”

Exactly these are just tools, hammers if you will, if FCP 07 can do the job today it can do the job tomorrow.

You would not want to jump on a piece of software that you dont know with clients anyway. So there will always be late night learning.
