not sure if you got an answer or not somewhere else…
You’re on the right track. Now try adding a left margin of minus half your width and a top margin of half your height. In your case, left margin: -325px and top margin: -150px.

About the speed, you might want to try and change the delay between frames. If I remember correctly, it’s at the bottom left of the timeline window.

You’re almost there.
Make sure to end the 100% Black part of your Gradient (in the mask) inside your image.

If you’re on a PC, right-click and select “Open with…” rather than double-clicking. Then select Photoshop from the list of apps. You could also do the same thing and tick the “Always open with this app” box in the “Open with…” window. But Photoshop isn’t exactly the quickest viewer when all you want to do is look at a picture.

On Mac, I’m sure there’s a way to set the default program to open your file. (Or is there, maybe, a contextual menu with a right-click / ctrl+click?)

I’ve been reading CSS Mastery. It’s great. There are some paragraphs that are just pure gold.
The chapters about the box model and clearing floats were quite helpful. It’s not really expensive, either.

Are there multiple video files in your .fla? If so, you could try loading them into your swf from separate files. Your main interface would probably load a lot faster and would only have “Please wait” on the different movies. 5 megs for a website is huge.
It’s showing fine in IE6/Win.

Sorry, maybe I should specify something: You can use Illustrator for working with bitmap images. It is definitely something you can do. I just meant that, in general, people use it for vector-based artwork.
It’s also a great place to prepare your images/stock for Flash (also a primarily vector-based app).
If you have any more specific questions, it will be my pleasure to answer them as best I can.

The biggest difference is that Illustrator is primarily a vector-based program, whereas Photoshop is a bitmap program. Biggest advantage? Not resolution-specific, infinitely resizeable and always clean. It is meant for… illustration-type work (or even technical drawing) but not for working with photos.

I suggest you check out Lynda.com for your educational needs. Also, ComputerArts (a UK based mag) has some great tutorials for all sorts of apps (including Illustrator). You can find them here.

Hi Alex,
if you have access to Adobe Illustrator CS2, you can simply open up Adobe Bridge. Browse to your files and you’ll be able to “batch LiveTrace” all of them. Unfortunately, it will only let you process 10 files (I think) at a time. There is supposedly a hack online that will let you change this limit.
