Steve, you’re a life-saver, thanks very much. I thought we had already tried reinterpreting the footage (and failed), but apparently not, because it’s working like a charm.

Now for another question, if you don’t mind- any way to get AE to assume there’s are alpha channels in a sequence of frames, even if some frames do and others don’t? (in particular, the first frame does not have an alpha… we tried getting AE to reinterpret footage to force assuption of an alpha channel, but the choices were greyed out).

I suppose the other alternative would be to import the footage in groups based on the presence of an alpha, but .. oy. 🙂 Lots of varied frame sequences.
