Totally. How do I add the metadata? I suppose it’s not same as Tags.
Is it through Modify> Assign Roles menu options (after creating new A and B video roles)?

That solved it!
When I followed your steps, I found that NO angle had the blue box around it. I didn’t know I had to set that up. I clicked on one of the video angles and all the black boxes in the Browser had thumbnails of that angle show up. THANKS!

Here is another question, for which I might open another thread if I don’t hear from anyone today, but perhaps is related here too:
when I was making these multicam clips, I bring together usually one long audio clip, one/two long video clips from Camera A on tripod, and several short video clips from Camera B on hand. The multicam that is created has a track for each of these clips, instead of just three, one for each angle and audio. I tried different grouping/sorting options from the menu of the multicam preferences but they gave same number of tracks and this time did not even put them in sync with the audio clip. It seems like my settings result in the program seeing each clip as if coming from a different camera. I end up putting them all in one track by shift-drag. Relatively quick but still, I am sure I am not supposed to be doing it that way.
Any way to solve this problem?

I don’t know if we are allowed to provide app links or names, but I use Carbon Copy Cloner for my backups. It has a checksum calculation included. I just never used it for when transferring data from card to external drive. I didn’t want to introduce another step to slow myself down, especially when I am on the run to get the second copy and reformat my cards (shooting with 4 cameras for several hours takes more cards than I can afford 🙂 ).
However, when there is time, it seems worthy to go in that route and use the checksum.

Another minor concern that just came up was this:
If I convert each SD card to ‘archive’ through FCP, like in your workflow, and have the backup of external drive with these archival files, then I have two copies of the archives, plus the original card contents if I have them saved in a different external drive as is, in the original directory structure (which I like to do in my workflow, calling that the “raw footage archive”).
As far as I know, these archive files of FCPx can only be read by FCPx.
I just switched from Premiere to FCPx and I can imagine switching again in the future. So, I should keep this in mind with the FCPx archive files, if I switch to a different platform or want to share the footage with a colleague/friend.

It’s always useful to know how others work.
I am still saving up for my desktop, so while working on the macbook pro, I can adapt a version of your approach to my workflow.

Do you have a method to make sure your card contents are successfully archived into your external archive drive, before you replicate it?
I was told there is a risk of damage during transfer (car not properly inserted, etc.) and in case of a bad transfer, you would be replicating the damaged file, rather than the original one from the card. So, to avoid this I try to copy from the cards twice, rather than doing it once and replicating it. Of course, I would be happy to know if there is a way to know the first transfer was successful, so it can be replicated.

Thank everyone for all your responses.

These sounds are happening in 3-4 of about 20 talks given in the same room. I don’t know if it eliminates some of the potential culprits.

I didn’t know about the batteries, mentioned by Bruce Watson. I tend to use rechargeable batteries that have at least 2/3 on them (mainly because I want to make an environmentally less damaging choice). I didn’t know they could be bad choices for transmitters/receivers. I mostly use Ansmann or Eneloop pro, which tend to have very good reviews.

I did the frequency check once, so I guess I should do it more often? (the talks lasted two full days).

Ty Ford, I carry the receiver, Zoom H4n and headphones on me. I move around the room with a 4th camera to get reaction shots and creative angles on the speaker, while also double checking that the other 3 cameras are recording well on their tripods. So, the Zoom is the “mixer” and I listen to the audio to ensure all is well. I guess to keep the receiver closer to the transmitter, I could set it up in a nearer place and maybe ask someone to keep the headphones on. However, I don’t always have this luxury.
Oh, and I use the XLR cable provided by Zoom H4n.

Your point about sibilant syllable makes sense. I notice that on some speakers even though the static noise is not as disturbing as the ones here.

Someone also suggested that it could be my transmitter’s volume is too high and it causes overmodulation (new concept to me) by the time it reaches to Zoom, which brings the peaks down to a safe level but keeps the distortion. When I checked the transmitter settings it was at -6Db. I moved it to -18Db. Will keep an ear on the device with these settings.

I am adding another short piece that has the same distortion even when the person is not speaking or moving much. In one instance, there is no contact with the antenna either.
On the other hand, I think she is overly sibilant as Ty Ford mentioned and you can hear a bit of distortion at the end of her words too.

so has anyone found the reason behind these crashes yet?

I first thought it could be because of Mavericks, but here I read that they have been around before Mavericks.
