[John Rofrano] “You didn’t say what the output was going to be but whatever it is, make sure that they match.”
Sorry about that, my output will be lossless (Lagarith). I’m planning on archiving all of my videos in their “original” form (if they’re interlaced, let them be interlaced and so forth) so that I can just dig up some old footage and start to edit with it.
[John Rofrano] “Then there is the field order of the media. You don’t get to decide this. It is what it is and you should never change it unless Vegas has interpreted it incorrectly. Usually this is determined by the capture device and codec.”
Intensity Shuttle captures in these formats:
AVI 8-bit YUV, AVI 10-bit YUV, AVI Motion JPEG, DPX 10-bit RGBI’m planning on using the AVI 10-bit YUV, since I believe this is the uncompressed video with most rich colors. Am I correct?
Also, is this format DV or non-DV material?[John Rofrano] “Last thing to remember is if you want your output to be progressive, and any of your source footage is interlaced, you MUST set the Deinterlace Method in the project properties to either Blend Fields or Interpolate. I would keep it at Blend Fields, which is the default, unless you have a good reason to switch it to Interpolate Fields because of interlace artifacts. Never, ever, never set it to None if you are working with interlaced footage.”
I believe that at this point of editing I should use different setting with this? As I’m putting them into archive instead of putting them up for others to see, and would like to keep the video in as original form as possible.

Thanks for the answer!
I’m actually planing on getting another HDD just for archiving my videos. However, I’m a bit skeptic about the idea of using separate HDD for lossless videos, since we’re talking about hundreds of videos right now.I would use Lagarith if the HDD space wasn’t problem.
But if there ain’t some other format that would compare with Sony MXF (in size / quality), then I might consider with upgrading to Pro version.
In this situation I have feeling that it comes cheaper by just upgrading the program than buying many HDD’s in a year. -

No.
The .avi I’m talking about is made by a program called Fraps.
This software is made for video game recordings as well as screen recording from PC.I believe that Fraps uses some sort of lossless codec since my Movie Studio recognizes it when I made a test with .avi (uncompressed). When I checked options for that, there were different formats and one of them was “Fraps video decompressor”, but Vegas gave me an error when I tried to render with that. I believe it’s somewhat comparable to Lagarith in quality / size.

I actually have two that I work with.
The other one is .avi and the second one is MJPEG. -
Thank you!
I found them. Now I’m curious if I can find Media Generators’ files from somewhere?
I have some custom Text templates saved and I would like to transfer them as well.If that’s possible?

OK. I was thinking the exact thing since the problem is alreay in the recorded file itself and not caused by Vegas after rendering.
At least I got the answer so I don’t need to think about the problem with every video I render.
Thank you for your responds!

I have PAL console and the capture device can record both, NTSC and PAL. However, if the output signal from console is PAL and capture card is set to record in NTSC, I get no picture at all. So the these two must match to each other. PAL to PAL, NTSC to NTSC.
And yes, the recorded footage does have the tearing already. I checked the footage frame by frame. Also, same tearing appears while I play, but it is easier to notice while I playback the recorded footage.
